Forget about pumpkin spice lattes. We’re halfway through October and it’s all about zombies, beards, and mustaches this week. And music. It’s always about music.
The walking dead
The 8th annual zombie crawl is this Saturday, Oct. 19, in downtown Denver. It’s a daylong event, filled with “Thriller” flash mobs, a zombie “adventure race,” pub crawl, zombie fashion show, haunted houses and, of course, thousands of new zombie friends to meet downtown. The event will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest zombie crawl ever and participants can register online.
If you can’t make it to the crawl, Westword has a list of the top zombie events to attend throughout October.
“‘My beard acts as a filter, so I only meet women who like me for who I am.’”
In true hipster fashion, Boulder’s Bohemian Biergarten will host the First Annual Beard and Mustache Competition, sponsored by Conscious Alliance on Saturday, Oct. 19. Boulder is no stranger to voluptuous beards and extreme facial hair, though. Our town is home to a facial hair club, after all.
If you run into one of the 25 most glorious beards of the GABF at the competition, let us know.

If zombies, beards or mustaches aren’t doing it for you, the Boulder Weekly has an interview with Portugal. The Man. They’re playing at the Boulder Theater on Friday, Oct. 18.
