This week in Arts & Culture: Get off the couch and celebrate October!

Festivus for the rest of us

If you’re looking for a festival to attend this week, the Denver/Boulder area is the place to be.

The Mile High Horror Film Fest runs Oct. 3-6, and features everything from classics like “The Exorcist” (complete with an appearance from Linda Blair) to locally, independent-made films.

The Boulder Theater hosts sports and adventure films Oct. 4-6 at Adventure Film Festival. Throughout the weekend, catch stories like “Out Living It,” a documentary about cancer survivors invited to experience excitement and adventure after chemotherapy.

Films not your thing? Check out the Denver Ukulele Festival or the Great American Beer Festival  Oct. 10-12.

Longmont’s Day of the Dead Celebration

From Oct. 5-10, Longmont will be home to the biggest Day of the Dead celebration in the state, thanks to the Longmont Museum. Exhibitions, art displays, murals, and more will re-create a Mexican cemetery in the downtown area throughout the week.

Finally: get your fashion fix!

The wait is finally over, fashion fans. After months brandishing a “coming soon” sign on the side of the building, H&M at Boulder’s Twenty Ninth Street mall is set to open next week.
